Why a venetian, specifically
A roller is open or closed by degrees; a venetian steers light direction. Tilt the slats up for glare-free daylight while still facing the fairway, tilt down for privacy from the clubhouse side, or close flat for full dark. On a golf estate where the sun swings from behind the house in the morning to straight into the lounge by late afternoon, that hour-by-hour control is the whole appeal.
Aluminium — the moisture and dust champion
25mm slats give the crispest, most popular look; 50mm slats read bolder with fewer visible lines. Aluminium is the obvious choice for bathrooms, kitchens and scullery windows, where fabric blinds eventually fail — and the powder-coated finish shrugs off Highveld dust and the odd overspray from estate irrigation without staining. A wide colour range, including woodlook finishes, keeps the budget-friendly option looking anything but budget.
Timber & bamboo — warmth for formal rooms
50mm basswood or bamboo slats suit studies, formal lounges and any room where the estate's clubhouse-style joinery calls for a "real material" over aluminium or fabric. Keep timber out of steamy en-suite bathrooms — a quality lacquer handles normal humidity, but sustained steam isn't its strong suit. Very wide picture windows in double-volume rooms may need the slats split or ladder-tape supported to stay true over time.
Fit and operation
Cord and chain tensioners are fitted as standard for child safety, and wand-tilt or motorised options (see our motorisation page) suit nurseries or hard-to-reach glass above stairwells and double-volume walls.
Venetian blinds, fitted across every estate we serve
Aluminium and timber venetians go up just as regularly on the neighbouring estates — Copperleaf's contemporary glazing, Centurion Golf Estate's fairway-facing rooms, Eldoraigne's older aluminium frames and Southdowns' double-volume halls all get the same slat and finish choices, specified to suit each home.
